More Manitobans are casting ballots in advance polls so far in this election than in 2011.

Elections Manitoba reported Tuesday that 36,800 persons voted in the first three days of advance balloting through Monday. That compares with 30,335 in the first three days of the 2011 election.

Saturday is the final day for advance voting.

Advance voting is available for any eligible voter who would like to vote before election day next Tuesday. They do not have to vote within their electoral division; they can vote at any advance voting location. Voters do not need a reason to vote in advance.

Locations are open daily at the returning office in each electoral division and in various other locations. The Elections Manitoba website has a full list of locations and dates, http://www.electionsmanitoba.ca/en/Voting/Advance_Voting, that can also be accessed by downloading the mobile app, Manitoba Votes 2016.

Advance voting locations are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., but not all advance locations are open every day.

Voters must show government-issued photo identification (such as a driver’s licence) or two other documents with their name.

Elections Manitoba is the independent office of the legislative assembly responsible for the administration of provincial elections and by-elections.
