Plowing of residential streets starts Wednesday

Winnipeggers are encouraged to “know their zone” as plowing of residential streets gets underway starting Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The residential parking ban will be in effect until 7 a.m. Saturday as city crews plow residential streets following this week’s storm. 

Motorists are advised to find somewhere off the street to park when crews are working in their area, or they risk a ticket and/or tow. 

Vehicles parked in violation of the residential parking ban may receive $150 tickets and they could be towed to a nearby street that is not scheduled to be plowed at that time. If your vehicle is towed, call 311 for assistance in locating it.

Residents can find out their area’s snow zone letter by using the city’s online address lookup tool, contacting 311 or using the Know Your Zone app. People can also recieve free email and Twitter notifications about parking bans. Go to knowyourzone.winnipeg.ca or contact 311 for more information.

In all areas, the annual snow route parking ban remains in effect nightly from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m. on streets designated as snow routes until March 1, 2017.
