A new poll shows the NDP is leading the Progressive Conservatives across the province less than two weeks before Manitobans mark their ballots.

The Angus Reid Institute says its poll shows 47 per cent of deciding and leaning voters say they will vote for the NDP, a six percentage point lead over the Tories at 41 per cent. The Liberal party comes third at nine per cent.

As previous polls have found, New Democrats hold an even larger lead in Winnipeg, where they are getting 53 per cent support, compared to the Tories at 31 per cent. The Liberals have 13 per cent support in the city.

Outside Winnipeg, the Tories have a large lead of 53 per cent compared to 38 per cent for the NDP. The Liberals are at four per cent.

The poll also shows that two in five Manitobans, or 40 per cent, say the NDP is the best party to work on health care in the province.

NDP Leader Wab Kinew not only has a 17 point advantage in favourability over Premier Heather Stefanson, but the Tory leader has also seen voter opinion of her deteriorate during the campaign, with 31 per cent saying their opinion of her has worsened. The poll found that only half of the Manitobans who voted for the PCs in 2019 believe Stefanson would make the best premier.
