MORDEN — Kaitlyn Lawes and her Fort Rouge teammates have booked a spot in the Manitoba women’s curling championship final.

Lawes defeated Kate Cameron of Granite Club 8-4 late Saturday afternoon to clinch first place in the championship pool.

Lawes improved to 7-1 to finish at the top of the standings.

Beth Peterson of Assiniboine Memorial and Cameron, both 6-2, will collide in the Scotties semifinal at 9:30 a.m.

The survivor takes on Lawes Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Access Event Centre for the right to represent Manitoba at the national championship next month in Calgary.

Peterson beat Zoey Terrick of the Heather 7-3 in the 4 p.m. draw.

Kristy Watling of East St. Paul downed Jolene Campbell of Assiniboine Memorial 8-6.

Watling and Campbell finished with 5-3 records to narrowly miss the playoffs.

Terrick finished at 3-5.
