Police are still searching for a suspect in a slaying in the Interlake area.

RCMP said in a news release Tuesday that Jerome Moore, 23, is still wanted for manslaughter after a 51-year-old Fisher River Cree Nation man was killed. The other wanted suspect, 19-year-old Perry Durocher, was arrested Friday in Winnipeg.

Police were initially called about a missing man the morning of June 1 and found his body in the Rural Municipality of Fisher that afternoon.

RCMP said last week that Moore was believed to be in Norway House, while Durocher was believed to be in Winnipeg. Police said Tuesday that officers, including the heavily armed emergency response team, were in Fisher River searching for Moore on Friday.

RCMP said investigators are aware there are “video and photos relating to the incident that are circulating.” The RCMP is asking who has such images to contact Fisher Branch RCMP at 204-372-8484, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or Manitoba Crime Stoppers.

Police said Moore is considered violent and that anyone who sees him should call police immediately and not approach him.

Two Fisher River girls, ages 14 and 16, were arrested June 5 and have been charged with manslaughter. RCMP first advised the public about the two male suspects that day.

Police said last week that the victim “appears to have been targeted.”
