The number of people who live in Winnipeg has increased by 9.2 per cent, with Waverley West claiming the greatest population spike of all city wards, new estimates show.

A city report offers updated population estimates that compare 2021 and 2024, based on Statistics Canada data and some city calculations.

It estimates Winnipeg’s total population rose to 843,363, from 772,564, during that period.

Since StatCan records data by a census area, and not a specific City of Winnipeg ward, some estimates are involved in the figures, the city notes.
