Two more candidates have registered in Winnipeg’s mayoral race.

Don Woodstock, a security business owner, also ran for mayor in 2018 and 2022.

For this campaign, he will focus heavily on transit reform.

Don Woodstock arrives at City Hall with wife Kathy Harris Wednesday, May 20, 2026 to register as a mayoral candidate for the upcoming civic election. He’s now one of six people making a bid for the city’s top job.

“As a (former Winnipeg) Transit driver, I know what works for the people,” said Woodstock.

He’s also promising to provide property tax and water bill rebates for seniors, if elected.

Woodstock won one per cent of the vote in 2022.

Political rookie Mazher Alam is also seeking the job.

In a press release, Alam said he will push for “municipal affordability,” calling to halt property tax hikes and reverse some sewer and water rate hikes.

He also promised to greatly reduce the number of potholes, fix roads and expand public transit.

There are now six candidates registered for the race. Mayor Scott Gillingham is seeking another term, while real estate agent Umar Hayat, grocery store clerk Christopher Clacio and funeral director Mike Vogiatzakis previously signed up.

Election day is Oct. 28.
