A burst water pipe at a Costco on Regent Avenue gave food court-goers a soggy meal and attracted first responders.
On Tuesday at 2:57 p.m., Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service staff arrived on scene, responding to Costco’s monitored alarm. The crew found the alarm had been activated by low pressure in an automatic sprinkler system.
A burst water pipe in the retailer caused the issue with the sprinkler system, according to WFPS spokeswoman Erin Madden.
The store at 1499 Regent Ave. West continues to be open. A Regent Avenue Costco employee confirmed the pipe had been fixed and the food court was operational Wednesday. A spokesman for Costco called the incident a “minor plumbing issue.”
