WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Police Association says an officer who suffered frostbite last week may lose some fingers.
Association president Moe Sabourin says the officer received severe frostbite to his hands while training last Friday.
Environment Canada issued an extreme cold warning throughout the province that day and with the wind it felt like -39 in Winnipeg.
Sabourin says it’s not clear how long the officer was outside or if the training could have been done indoors.
He says he wants to make sure the same thing doesn’t happen to another officer.
