A news release says officers stopped the attack and arrested the suspect without injury to anyone else.

Rocca says the wounded officer is in stable condition in hospital.

The force says the man is facing six charges, including attempted murder, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public peace.
