HALIFAX – The most popular name for a baby born in Nova Scotia this year was Theodore.

Service Nova Scotia says other names in the top ten are William, Jack, Noah, Charlotte, and Amelia.

Oliver was the most popular baby name of 2023, and remained in the top ten this year.

Service Nova Scotia says the name Hazel gained in popularity in 2024 — 25 babies were given that name — and old favourites like Lucas and Owen came back in style.

As of today, there were 7,154 registered births in the province in 2024.

Nova Scotia began registering births in 1864, when the most popular baby names were Mary and John.
