CALGARY – Calgary police are investigating two separate discoveries of human remains in the past week.

Unidentified human remains were discovered last Thursday by a pedestrian walking on a path in southwest Calgary.

Police were also called on Monday night after a pedestrian found potential remains on the side of the Bow River in the city’s northwest.

They say the first individual has been identified as a 25-year-old man and his body was likely there for some time, while the other person hasn’t been identified.

Calgary police Staff Sgt. Sean Gregson says the cases don’t appear to be linked and foul play is not suspected.

Gregson says these types of discoveries are common at this time of year as the snow melts and more people are walking in public areas.
