MONTREAL – Montreal police were busy early Saturday dealing with three stabbings in two separate fights at opposite ends of the city, leaving one man dead.

Police were called to a bar in the city’s Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood at about 2 a.m. for two men stabbed.

One of the men, a 48-year-old, was pronounced dead in hospital later Saturday, while the second victim, a 36-year-old man, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Const. Caroline Chèvrefils says a conflict between a suspect and the victims escalated and the accused fled the scene before police arrived.

In another case, police have made no arrests after a 24-year-old man was found stabbed in the Anjou borough in eastern Montreal at around 3:50 a.m. after a fight outside a bar.

The homicide is the 25th reported on Montreal police territory in 2025.
