MARIEVILLE – Two people are dead and one is injured following an apartment building fire in Marieville, Que., east of Montreal.

Emergency services were called to the four-unit building on Ste-Marie Street at about 2:30 a.m.

Provincial police Sgt. Laurie Avoine says a woman in her twenties was found unconscious in the building and was pronounced dead in hospital.

Avoine says a man in his twenties was declared dead at the scene.

She says a woman evacuated from the building was transported to hospital and her life is not in danger.

Avoine says it’s too early to determine the cause of the fire.
