HAMILTON – Hamilton police say a man has been charged with murder in the fatal shooting of a 29-year-old man outside a pool hall more than two years ago.
Police say just before 11 p.m. on Dec. 29, 2023, officers responded to reports of shots fired in the area of York Boulevard and Queen Street North.
When they arrived, they found Daniel Musafiri with a gunshot wound and he was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police say Musafiri had left Boulevard Billiards and was then confronted by the suspect in a nearby parking lot, and there was a brief verbal exchange before Musafiri was shot.
Police say while they were investigating another case, they received new information that linked the suspect to the shooting.
They say a 29-year-old man from Hamilton was already in custody on an unrelated matter, and he has now been charged with first-degree murder in Musafiri’s death.
This report by The Canadian Press was first published March 5, 2026.
