HALIFAX – An 82-year-old Halifax man is facing multiple sex-related charges for allegedly abusing his daughter, granddaughter and great-granddaughter at various times during the past 45 years.

The man’s identity is protected from publication by a court-ordered ban that also prohibits the release of information that could be used to identify the complainants.

Documents filed with the provincial court in Dartmouth, N.S., allege the accused sexually assaulted his great-granddaughter between Oct. 31, 2025 and Jan. 1, 2026 in an eastern Nova Scotia community when she was under 16.

He is also charged with buying or attempting to buy sexual services from her when she was under 18, which was during the same time period.

The man is also accused of sexually assaulting his granddaughter between Dec. 31, 2009 and Jan. 1, 2015 near Halifax when she was under 16.

In both cases, the accused has also been charged with sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching and making sexually explicit material available to someone under the age of 16.

The last of 10 criminal charges alleges the man indecently assaulted his daughter between June 30, 1981 and July 30, 1983, in a suburb west of Halifax.

The accused was not in court Tuesday when Judge Amy Sakalauskas granted a request from defence lawyer Patrick Atherton to adjourn the case until May 14.
