Many businesses and government services scale back hours on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
SHOPPING
CF Polo Park is open 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve, closed Christmas Day, and open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Boxing Day.
St. Vital Centre is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve, close Christmas Day, and open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Boxing Day.
Outlet Collection is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve, closed Christmas Day, and open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Boxing Day.
Grant Park Shopping Centre is open 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve, closed Christmas Day, and open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Boxing Day.
The Forks Market won’t be open Christmas Day.
Most grocery stores, including Safeway, Sobeys, Superstore and Walmart, will operate at reduced hours on Christmas Eve and remain closed Christmas Day.
Manitoba Liquor Mart stores in Winnipeg will operate 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve and will be closed Christmas Day. Boxing Day hours are set for 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. For details on exceptions and rural Liquor Mart hours, go to http://wfp.to/jYA.
Beer vendors and private wine stores set their own hours, so the best way to find out if the one near you will be open is to call.
ENTERTAINMENT
The Assiniboine Park Zoo is closed Christmas Day.
The Canadian Museum for Human Rights will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. It is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Boxing Day.
The Children’s Museum is closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and open 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Boxing Day.
The Manitoba Museum is closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Boxing Day.
The Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada is closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
The Winnipeg Art Gallery is open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Christmas Eve, closed Christmas Day, and open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Boxing Day.
Movie theatres will be open.
RECYCLING AND TRASH
Recycling and garbage will be collected as usual on Christmas Eve, and there will be no recycling and garbage collection Christmas Day. Those with Christmas as their collection day will have their schedule moved to Boxing Day.
The Brady Road landfill will be closed Christmas Day and open 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Boxing Day.
LEISURE ACTIVITIES
All leisure centres will be closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day. All leisure centres will close at noon on Christmas Eve, except for Fort Rouge Leisure Centre, which will be open until 4:30 p.m.
City of Winnipeg swimming pools will close at noon on Christmas Eve and won’t reopen until Wednesday.
WINNIPEG TRANSIT
Buses will operate on a Sunday schedule on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

LIBRARIES
All Winnipeg Public Library branches will be closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day.

CEMETERIES
Brookside, St. Vital and Transcona cemeteries will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cemetery offices will be closed on Christmas Eve, Boxing Day and Thursday. Offices will stay open until 4:30 p.m. Christmas Eve. For more information, visit the municipal cemeteries branch online or contact 311.
GOVERNMENT SERVICES
Civic, provincial and federal offices will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
The Winnipeg Parking Authority will be open 8:30 a.m. to noon on Christmas Eve, and will be closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and Thursday
The city’s animal services agency will be open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve, and be closed for regular business Christmas Day and Boxing Day. However, it will host an open house, where visitors can give dogs treats and snuggles, on Christmas Day. Attendees will be able to play with dogs outside and check out an animal control vehicle. A fire truck and ambulance from the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service will also be on site from 12:45 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. Visitors whose last names begin with A-M are welcome from noon to 1 p.m.; visitors whose last names begin with M-Z, are welcome from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
There will be no mail delivery on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Canada Post offices will be closed, but post offices operated by the private sector will be open according to the hours of service of the host business.
