Hey there, time traveller!

When the design team at Broadview Homes set out to conceive their show home at 337 Ken Oblik Dr. in Prairie Pointe, they had one goal in mind: to come up with a distinctive design.
Mission accomplished, says the sales representative for the two-storey, 2,075-square-foot. home, Lisa Castro of Coldwell Banker Preferred Real Estate.
“This is our last show home in Prairie Pointe, and it’s truly one of a kind,” she says. “It does a wonderful job of combining luxury and contemporary living with timeless, ultra-modern finishes.”

The Monticello’s modern look starts with a distinctive black-and-white exterior.
That modern, black-and-white design motif asserts itself the moment you step inside the home, notes Castro.
“When you walk in, the first thing you see is a space to the right of the front door with a linear electric fireplace set in a black feature wall that immediately catches your attention. It’s a great space that can be used as either a sitting room or formal dining room.”
She adds there’s a reason why the fabulous flex space would be used as a sitting/media room.
“There’s a main-floor bedroom and full bathroom directly across the way down their own hallway — it’s a very popular feature for families living with parents. With everything at the front, parents can have their own private bedroom/bathroom area plus a space to relax in. The great thing about the bedroom is it’s huge. It’s not an afterthought at all.”
Take a few steps forward, and you find yourself standing in a vast, efficiently laid-out main living area that features a black-and-white colour scheme that, while bold, isn’t over the top.

Style meets function in effortless fashion in the spacious, open-concept main living area.
As was undoubtedly the intent of Broadview’s design team, your gaze is immediately drawn to the great room, which regally occupies the right-hand portion of the marvellous main living area.
“It is just a gorgeous space,” Castro says. “Black curtains stream down the floor-to-ceiling windows, while the 18-foot ceiling gives the area a wonderful feeling of space. Its focal point is a beautiful entertainment with black feature wall with a gas fireplace placed below a huge TV area. Bronze panelling behind the black shelving on either side really adds depth and colour.”
Next comes the sleek island kitchen, which builds on the modern black-and-white theme.
“The island with its black, white-veined quartz countertops, looks spectacular with its waterfall sides and bronze panelling that really sets off the eating nook,” she says. “The black cabinets are sleek and stylish, while a matching black/white quartz backsplash looks incredible. The kitchen also comes with a huge pantry, built-in induction cooktop and built-in ovens.”
Meanwhile, a striking open staircase with tempered glass inserts and black trim provides access to the Monticello’s spacious second floor.

A gorgeous marble-style tile feature wall sets off the ensuite’s deep soaker tub and lavish walk-in shower perfectly.
“It offers three additional bedrooms, and all of them are quite large,” Castro says. “Not only that, but the main bath is as luxurious as some ensuites.”
Speaking of ensuites, the ensuite in the lavish primary bedroom is something to behold.
“We call it a deluxe ensuite, but I would say it’s far more than that. It starts of with a heated tile floor and is then filled out by a gorgeous frameless walk-in shower and huge soaker tub set in a tile surround.”
The finishing quality in the sublime, spa-like space is second to none, she adds.
“Just look at the tiled wall behind the soaker tub and shower and the tiled feature in the shower that makes black fixtures stand out. And the vanity is spectacular, with dual bronze hammered metal sinks that pop on the black quartz countertop. The rose gold handles also go perfectly with the black vanity.”

The open upper level staircase pops on the off-white colour palette with its black trim and modern glass panels.
Because the Monticello is 2,075 square feet, its lower level is massive, allowing for plenty of development.
“You can easily put in a huge rec room, fifth bedroom and a spacious bathroom and still have plenty of space left over for storage. This home has the potential to offer five bedrooms and four bathrooms.”
Castro says those looking for a modern-themed home that’s loaded with style and function should visit 337 Ken Oblik Dr. to take an up-close look at the Monticello.
“This home really is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece,” she says. “It delivers great style with its ultra-modern finishes, and its high quality throughout with its excellent build quality and beautiful, timeless finishes.”
