Two of Canada’s conquering hockey heroes will touch down in Winnipeg this afternoon before returning to their junior clubs.
Winnipeg’s Chet Pickard, who was in goal for two of Canada’s wins in helping this country capture its fifth-consecutive World Junior Hockey Championship gold medal, arrives home on WestJet flight 475, scheduled to arrive at James A. Richardson International Airport at 2:38 p.m. And defenceman Keith Aulie, a product of Rouleau, Sask., who plays for the Western Hockey League’s Brandon Wheat Kings, will arrive on Air Canada flight 263, with an arrival time of 2:12 p.m.
Canada crushed Sweden 5-1 in Monday night’s gold-medal final before a packed house in Ottawa, giving this country its fifth straight championship and 11th consecutive medal.
