A sunny and unseasonably warm Remembrance Day is in the forecast for Winnipeg.

Clear skies and a high of 10 C bode well for sombre outdoor services being held at Valour Road at Sargent Avenue and Vimy Park on Portage Avenue at Home Street.

Both begin at 10:45 a.m.

The largest Remembrance Day service in the city will take place inside the Winnipeg Convention Centre. The service, hosted by the Joint Veterans Association, begins at 10:30 a.m.

Indoor services are also being held at the Minto Armoury at 969 St. Matthews Ave., McGregor Armoury, 551 Machray Ave., Winnipeg South Osborne Legion Branch No. 252, 462 Osborne St., all beginning at 10:30 a.m.

At 10:15 a.m., indoor services start at HMCS Chippawa, 1 Navy Way as well as Unit 283 ANAVETS Building, Stillwell Hall, 3584 Portage Ave.

All federal, provincial and civic offices will be closed on Wednesday as well as banks and the city dump.

There will be no recycling or garbage collection on Wednesday. Collection will resume on Thursday, Day 1 on the five-day cycle.

Winnipeg Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule on Wednesday and all libraries will be closed.

Assiniboine Park Zoo is open from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and the conservatory is open 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m on Remembrance Day.

All civic leisure centres and indoor pools will be closed, except for Pan Am Pool, which will be open from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Hotels and restaurants can be open all day, but businesses selling or offering goods and services, including movie theatres and concert venues, can’t open until 1 p.m.

All Manitoba Liquor Marts, with the exception of cityplace, will be open from 1 p.m. to regular closing hours. Cityplace will be closed all day. Privately owned liquor vendors and retail beer vendors may open at 1 p.m.

While dining rooms and veterans’ association clubs can begin serving liquor at noon, all other licensed premises must wait until 1 p.m.
