Ten people are without homes after a fire damaged a Redwood Avenue triplex early Friday.
Fire crews on the scene Friday morning told residents the cause of the fire was electrical.
Winnipeg police say the fire does not appear suspicious but the arson strike force did investigate the blaze. Damage is estimated at around $100,000.
Fire crews arrived on the scene in the 500 block of Redwood Avenue and put out the fire.
Kamla Singh awoke to the smell of smoke about 2:30 a.m. She couldn’t see any flames in her apartment, but a quick search found the source.
“Lo and behold there was a fire at my door,” Singh said Friday morning outside her home. She added the fire started between the walls near her main-floor bedroom then spread toward the upper unit.
