Hockey fans will be the big winners after the Winnipeg Jets and the Free Press renewed a long-standing partnership agreement Thursday.
“We were there from the beginning with the Moose and we’re delighted to continue with the Jets,” said Free Press publisher Bob Cox.
In addition to the most comprehensive coverage of the brand-new NHL franchise in the Free Press, the news organization’s website, winnipegfreepress.com/jets, will now be able to provide unique online content including game-recap video, news conferences, video features on players and people associated with the team.
“This is separate from sports coverage — it will be in addition to our great coverage of the Jets,” Cox said.
“This partnership is going to help us enhance Winnipeg’s best and most comprehensive news and sports sections with the inside stories of the Winnipeg Jets. If you are a Jets fan you will want to be a reader and subscriber of the Winnipeg Free Press.”
Jim Ludlow, president and CEO of True North Sports & Entertainment, said the Winnipeg Jets’ partnership with the Free Press will help launch the new era of NHL hockey in Manitoba.
“As the province’s leading newspaper and multimedia company, it was natural to continue our long-standing partnership with the Winnipeg Free Press as we move into our inaugural season with the Winnipeg Jets,” Ludlow said in a news release.
