Crash at Inkster Boulevard and King Edward Street fatal

One person is dead after a single-vehicle crash at Inkster Boulevard and King Edward Street late Sunday night.

The crash happened at about 11:30 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service said.

Four occupants of the car were transported to hospital with serious injuries. One person later died from their injuries, while the other three have been upgraded to stable condition, the WPS said late Monday morning.

Police remained at the scene after the Monday morning rush hour.

The WPS traffic division is asking anyone with information about the crash, including security or dash-camera video, to call investigators at 204-986-7085 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477 (TIPS).

Mounties ID woman sought in relation to hit-and-run

RCMP have identified a woman they were trying to find in connection with a hit-and-run in Cross Lake last week.

Two people were seriously hurt when a vehicle leaving the parking lot of the Cross Lake Inn struck two adults walking along the community’s main road early Wednesday.

A man and a woman, both 59, were hurt.

RCMP asked for the public’s help to identify a woman captured on security video, saying they want to identify her because she might have information about the hit-and-run collision.

Youths trashed car, stole items, threw rocks: police

Two teens are facing charges after a group of youths jumped on the hood of a car and smashed its windows, stole drinks from a Subway and then threw rocks at the restaurant.

Police were sent to the restaurant, which is open 24 hours, at 201 Henderson Hwy., at about 4 a.m. Sunday.

Police said four youths were seen damaging a vehicle parked outside. The youths jumped on the vehicle’s hood and smashed windows, causing extensive damage, the Winnipeg Police Service said Monday.

The youths entered the store, stole some drinks and left, but returned and threw rocks at the eatery, the WPS said. The rock-throwing damaged windows and a glass barrier within the Subway.

Police said they found two suspects nearby, while two other youths fled.

Two boys, a 13-year-old and a 16-year-old, are facing two counts each of mischief over $5,000 and theft under $5,000.

Both were turned over to adults, the WPS said.

Journey, Toto making arena stop in March

It’s a powerhouse double bill when Journey and Toto hit the Canada Life Centre on March 4.

The two American acts are staples of classic-rock radio, the former known for such hits as Don’t Stop Believin’ — which has been streamed more than one billion times — and Any Way You Want It, and the latter for Rosanna and Africa (which was recently brought back into the limelight via a Weezer cover).

The Winnipeg show is part of a 30-date North American jaunt celebrating Journey’s 50th anniversary, called the Freedom Tour. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers include founding guitarist Neil Schon, Jonathan Cain (keyboards), Arnel Pineda (lead vocals), Jason Derlatka (keyboards, vocals), Deen Castronovo (drums/vocals) and Todd Jensen (bass).

Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. at ticketmaster.ca; prices start at $37.50 plus fees.

Two teens charged in stabbing

Two teen boys have been charged after a man who had been stabbed banged on the door of the Thompson RCMP detachment seeking help on Friday night.

Mounties were patrolling when they drove by the detachment and saw the man at about 10:55 p.m.

The 30-year-old Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation resident was taken to the area hospital. Officers followed a blood trail to the nearby library and watched video of the attack recorded on cameras there.

Two boys, ages 16 and 15, were arrested nearby, police said. The younger suspect had the weapon involved on him, and tried to flee, Mounties said.

Both boys have been charged with aggravated assault and detained in custody.

The victim was transported to a Winnipeg hospital for emergency surgery, where he remained in stable condition with serious injuries Monday, RCMP said.

Missing Portage la Prairie teen may be in Brandon

RCMP are asking for the public’s help in finding a missing Portage la Prairie girl.

Tyeanna Daniels, 13, was last seen at her home Wednesday evening and was reported missing Thursday morning.

She’s described as being 5-3 in height, 85 pounds, with long dark brown hair and brown eyes. It is possible she might be in Brandon.

RCMP are asking anyone with information about Tyeanna’s whereabouts to call the Portage la Prairie detachment 204-857-4445 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
