Here’s your list of what’s open and what’s closed in Winnipeg.

SHOPPING

  • Most malls are closed Canada Day.
  • The Forks Market is open extended hours (7 a.m. to 11 p.m.)
  • Most grocery stores, including Safeway, Sobeys, Superstore and Walmart, are closed.
  • Most Manitoba Liquor Mart stores in Winnipeg operate on Canada Day and have extended hours on Thursday leading up to the long weekend, visit www.LiquorMarts.ca/hours.
  • Beer vendors and private wine stores set their own hours for the holiday, so Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries suggests the best way to find out if the one near you will be open Monday is to call.

ENTERTAINMENT

  • The Assiniboine Park Zoo is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. all weekend.
  • The Manitoba Museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  The Dino Discovery Room is open.
  • The Children’s Museum is open regular hours, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • The Winnipeg Art Gallery is open extended hours 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. all weekend, except Friday, when it will stay open until 11 p.m. Admission will be free from 5 – 11 p.m. Friday as part of First Fridays in the Exchange. The gallery has an exhibit featuring the work of Karel Funk
  • The Canadian Museum for Human Rights is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. all weekend.

RECYCLING AND TRASH

Recycling and garbage will be collected as normally scheduled on Friday.
