The Police HQ Effect: Property map

Since 2008, when the City of Winnipeg first revealed a plan to buy and renovate the former Canada Post building, 27 properties in the immediate vicinity of the new police headquarters — more than 40 per cent of the properties within a one-block radius of the new HQ — have changed hands.

Real-estate experts say the run on real estate appears coincidental, although there’s no question the presence of 1,400 police officers will improve the perception of public safety in the vicinity.

The red box on this map shows the new Police HQ.
