Hey there, time traveller!
This article was published 10/03/2025 (244 days ago), so information in it may no longer be current.
I am deeply saddened by the Free Press article Silence from regular Americans speaks volumes, March 4.
This column from Tom Brodbeck states information that couldn’t be further from the truth.
We are speaking out and joining protests across the nation daily. Every day, people in different cities take to the streets or use social media to express their anger about what is happening in this country.
We are all exhausted and care so deeply about what is going on. Despite the challenges, our courage and determination to make a difference is unwavering. We have been hit daily since the beginning of the madness in January, with a flurry of different causes and reasons for people to speak out and multiple new areas of concern being hit daily.
Our people are losing our rights, jobs, access to clean drinking water, health care, access to what we can do to our bodies, our abilities to obtain employment, our national parks, and access to affordable goods, just to name a few things that are going on.
Every day, it’s a new fire burning that we are trying so desperately to speak out against.
The vast majority of us care deeply, and everyone I talk to cares so profoundly and feels exhausted about the constant need to speak out against injustices.
We are creating groups to mobilize and fight against this tyranny. We are trying our best, but our voices are being silenced. The media doesn’t want to cover our protests out of fear.
The administration is trying to take our ability to have free speech through purchasing news outlets, imposing significant restrictions on our ability to protest, making threats to expel college students for protests, silencing journalists who do not cover its point of view through kicking out reporters and others to skew the message that you and the majority of us are receiveing.
We are going to town halls to speak out and are getting kicked out through forcible measures for dissenting views. There has now been a request for Republicans to no longer hold town halls to be sure that opposing viewpoints are not being heard.
This directly skews the media and information that you are receiving.
We try our best to make a difference.
Even in my tiny town, I am part of two resistance groups: Indivisible Virginia and NRV Resistance. These groups work with other groups across the nation.
We are not alone in this fight. We are united, and our solidarity is our strength. Further, I have driven to the capitol, which is four hours away, to participate in a protest on the state capitol on No King’s Day.
This protest was organized through a group called 50501, which has been responsible for organizing protests and marches across the nation. This group is very active and just held marches yesterday.
Additionally, many people are organizing boycotts and facilitating this information to the people across the country so that we can participate. I have participated in these boycotts, because every small piece of this effort matters.
Do not distribute this hate that we are not fighting; we are.
We are exhausted, but we continue.
Our commitment to these causes and rights is unwavering.
Our numbers keep growing even as the exhaustion sets in.
We are continuing even as mass media is not covering these protests.
We care deeply about all these causes and rights, and none of us wants to be at war with Canada or anyone else. We love Canada, and some of my best friends live there.
Our nations need to work together rather than be at war. Many of the accounts I follow express love for Canada and other countries.
MAGA does not speak for the vast majority of us.
Do not lose hope in us. Please remember though it may seem that nothing is happening, the media, both social media and the mainstream media, are owned by the oligarchy which now runs the country amd neither have any intertest in giving any attention to our plight.
We are trying our best to combat Goliath, but we won’t stop fighting.
With compassion,
Emily Traud writes from Blacksburg, VA.
