We’re monitoring the polls, so you don’t have to. Once a week until election day, the Free Press will update its readers on the current poll results. This week we are looking at recent polls from Nanos, Ipsos and Ekos.
Nanos: According to its three-day leadership tracker ending Oct. 11, Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau was the choice of 32.3 per cent Canadians to be prime minister, followed by Conservative Leader Stephen Harper at 28.1 per cent, NDP Leader Tom Mulcair at 20.5 per cent, Green party Leader Elizabeth May at 6.4 per cent and Bloc Québécois Leader Gilles Duceppe at 2.3 per cent; 10.3 per cent of Canadians were unsure.
Last week: Preferred PM, Harper (31.7 per cent) Trudeau (30.6 per cent), Mulcair (19 per cent), May (5.1 per cent), Duceppe (2.5 per cent), Unsure (11.1 per cent).
Margin of error: The margin of error for a survey of 1,200 respondents is ±2.8 per cent, 19 times out of 20.
Global News Ipsos Reid poll: The poll conducted by Global News between Oct. 9-13 places the Liberals in the lead with the support of 37 per cent of decided voters, the Conservatives have 31 per cent support, the NDP at 24 per cent, followed by the Bloc at five per cent and the Green party at two per cent support.
Last week: Conservatives (33 per cent), Liberals (32 per cent), NDP (26 per cent), Bloc (five per cent) One in 10 either wouldn’t vote (three per cent) or are unsure (10 per cent).
Margin of error: With a sample of 1,349 Canadians from Ipsos’ online panel and is accurate to within +/- 3.0 percentage points 19 times out of 20.
Ekos: When asked between Oct. 10-12 how a respondent plans to vote on Oct. 19, 35.6 per cent said Liberal, 31.1 per cent said Conservative, 20.6 per cent said NDP, 7.5 per cent said Green and 3.2 per cent said Bloc.
Last week: Conservatives (35.1 per cent) Liberal (30.9 per cent) NDP (22.2 per cent) Green (6.6 per cent) Bloc (4.0)
Margin of error: The margin of error associated with the total sample is +/- 2.9 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
