Having not played since defeating the Dallas Stars 3-1 on New Year’s Eve, Florida will be fresh against the Jets. The victory over the Stars improved the Panthers to 16-14-8 on the year, a record good enough for just sixth place in the Atlantic Division.

The Panthers struggled initially right after firing their head coach Gerard Gallant in late November, replacing him with general manager Tom Rowe. But after losing five of their first six games under Rowe, the Panthers appear to have found their footing, earning points in eight of their last 10 games (4-2-4).

Tonight marks the second game this season between Florida and Winnipeg, with the Jets earning a 4-3 shootout victory back on Dec. 15. Jaromir Jagr, who recently moved into second place in NHL scoring, passing Mark Messier with 1,891 points, paced the Panthers with two assists in the game. The 44-year-old Jagr is third in team-scoring this season with 23 points, behind forwards Aleksander Barkov (27) and Jonathan Marchessault (23).
