Valour FC signs forward, midfielder

The Canadian Premier League’s Valour FC announced Monday it has signed forward Tyler Attardo and midfielder Dylan Carreiro to multi-year contracts.

The 6-2 Attardo signed his first professional contract after playing locally with FC Northwest and Phoenix FC. The 17-year-old was a member of the U-13 and U-15 provincial teams, and also represented Manitoba at the Canadian Club Nationals.

“Tyler is a player I know well and have been following his progress over the last few years,” said Valour head coach and GM Rob Gale. “We were excited going into the Winnipeg GotGame trials to see how he would perform, and to his credit he was the standout player and confirmed the potential that he has. This will be an important step in his early professional soccer career.”

In 2016, the striker was invited to participate in a residency academy program in Italy with A.C. Chievo Verona (Serie A). He was invited to attend again in 2017-18 and spent five months with the club on each occasion.

The 5-8 Carreiro, 24. was chosen second overall from York University in the CPL-U Sports Draft in November.

“We anticipated offering Dylan a contract, and after thorough scouting across the country at various levels, we felt that it should happen sooner rather than later,” said Gale. “We want to give him that platform to get back to his previous level in professional soccer.”
