The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announced Sunday the signing of national defensive lineman Maxx Forde.

Forde, 27, spent the past two seasons with the B.C. Lions, where he registered 10 total tackles, one sack and two forced fumbles in 22 games.

The 6-5, 262-pound Forde played his four-year college career with the Idaho Vandals, totaling 146 tackles, 9.5 sacks and five fumble recoveries in 47 games.

Despite growing up in Seattle, Forde counts as a national because his father Brian Forde, a former Lion and 1994 Grey Cup Champion, was born in Montreal.

In September, Forde was traded to the Ottawa Redblacks for a 2019 sixth-round pick and a player from the negotiation list, but the trade was voided as Forde didn’t pass a medical.

Forde was drafted by the B.C. Lions in the 7th round of the 2015 CFL Draft.
