Valour FC parts ways with first goal scorer

Valour FC announced Tuesday morning the club and English-born striker Stephen Hoyle have mutually agreed to part ways.

Hoyle, 26, was Valour’s first international signing and was expected to be a key contributor on offence. The goal scorer came to Winnipeg after several successful seasons playing in New Zealand’s ISPS Handa Premiership league. But outside of scoring Valour’s first goal in franchise history on May 1 against Pacific FC, Hoyle failed to find the back of the net. In six Canadian Premier League spring-season matches, Hoyle had one goal in 408 minutes.

“We would like to thank Stephen for his contribution to the club, and he will always be remembered as our first goal scorer in team history,” Valour head coach and general manager Rob Gale said in a release. “We wish him the best in his future endeavours.”
