The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are welcoming back one of their playoffs heroes on defence.
The club announced Monday morning they’ve re-signed pending free agent defensive back Mercy Maston.
Maston, a 27-year-old from Bakersfield, Calif., joined the Bombers as a free agent in August and played in three regular-season games and all three post-season contests. In the playoffs, Maston had 13 tackles, an interception and a sack.
Maston played college ball at Boise State before spending 2017 and 2018 with the Edmonton Eskimos, where he saw action in 19 games. Edmonton released him in January to pursue an opportunity with the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles.
