ABOUT THE KINGS
— RW Tyler Toffoli, one of the more interesting players likely to be dealt before Monday’s NHL trade deadline, notched a hat trick in L.A.’s 3-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche in Saturday’s Stadium Series game in Colorado Springs, Colo. It was the first outdoor hat trick in NHL history. The 27-year-old, a pending unrestricted free agent in the off-season, has a US$4.6 million cap hit. He has 18 goals and 34 points in 58 games this season.
— Meanwhile, D Alec Martinez, who has a year remaining on a six-year, US$24-million deal and RW Trevor Lewis, another pending UFA with a US$2-million cap hit, have also been mentioned prominently in trade speculation.
— With a win over the Jets, the Kings would equal their season-best streak of three consecutive wins.
— On a roll: Toffoli has four goals in his last two games while C Anze Kopitar has four assists in two games. Kopitar leads the club in scoring with 51 points.
