Kelsey Wog continues to dominate the U Sports competition in the pool.

The fourth-year University of Manitoba Bisons swimmer won two gold medals on Sunday at the 2019 Canada West Championships at the University of Lethbridge.

Wog’s first win came in the 100-metre freestyle with a mark of 54.20, which set a new conference record. Wog also broke the Canada West record in the 100-metre breaststroke on Saturday. Wog’s second gold on Sunday came in the 200-metre breaststroke, when she beat the second-place finisher by nearly six seconds. Wog’s time of 2:22.78 was a half-second shy of her conference record from last year.

Wog also helped the Bisons women win bronze in the 4×100-metre medley relay with Dora Modrcin, Jamie Alexiuk and Georgia Pengilly.

In men’s action, fifth-year Bisons swimmer Anthony Iliouchetchev won his second medal of the meet on Sunday, earning a silver in the 100-metre freestyle with a time of 50.26. Iliouchetchev also won a gold in the 50-metre freestyle on Saturday.

The Bisons men finished in seventh with 180 points and the women just missed the podium as their 275 points put them in fourth place. The UBC Thunderbirds won both the men’s and women’s conference titles.
