Hey there, time traveller!
This article was published 09/06/2009 (5942 days ago), so information in it may no longer be current.
STARS O’ THE DAY: We liked DB John Eubanks and Brandon Stewart; DL Don Oramasionwu, QB Stefan LeFors and K Alexis Serna.
OUCH UPDATE: LB Thaine Carter (shoulder) left the afternoon session in considerable pain. Also on the mend are S/LB Shawn Gallant (ankle); KR Ramonce Taylor (ankle); LB Joe Lobendahn (back spasm); DB Willie Amos (knee); LB Barrin Simpson (groin); DB Darrius Battles (foot). K Dan Giancola (groin) should be hoofing them on Tuesday.
TUESDAY’S TIMES: For all those diehards who continue to come out to practice despite the monsoon-like conditions, the Bombers will be on the field Tuesday at 7:45 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. with both sessions going roughly two hours.

ED TAIT THINKS YOU SHOULD KNOW…
FIGHT CLUB: The first scrap of training camp features Obby Khan and Pierre-Luc Labbe, but wasn’t more than just a couple of guys swinging. That said, the new head coach doesn’t exactly discourage the fisticuffs.
"I would expect it," said Kelly. "This is a high adrenaline, testosterone-driven profession and guys are fighting for jobs. I expect those things, I don’t shy away from them. Shoot, my dad locked the screen door and wouldn’t let me come back into the house until I went and beat up this one kid, so I’m kind of used to that. When you get locked out of your house and are told, ‘Go finish it’ you go and win if you want to get back in."
QUOTABLE: "I’ve been married twice, so I know about those honeymoons. I didn’t get cut some slack with either one of them. We’ll just have to see… Remember, I keep another house in Philadelphia and that’s a whole different world from what fans expect. It comes with the territory. You just roll with the punches the best you can and hopefully things fall into place and people see that you do have a plan and they’ll accept you." — Kelly on whether he thought his regime would be afforded a ‘honeymoon’ period or whether expectations for a Grey Cup will remain unchanged.

NOTES: A new DT in town — DeVon Hicks (6-2, 265, Northwest Mississippi State). He was in Saskatchewan’s camp a year ago after a stint with Green Bay… DB/LB Jonathan Hefney has finally had his passport issues resolved and is expected this afternoon… The club and holdout DB Lenny Walls are still chatting about a new deal, but nothing is imminent right now… LB Barrin Simpson has officially switched from jersey #51 to #5… Jamie Stein of CFL.ca was here today to shoot interviews for a series of training-camp reports he is doing for the league website. Expect the Bomber report to be filed sometime in the next week… For what it’s worth, the Bombers’ No. 1 O-line featured Obby Khan at centre, Glenn January at left tackle, Brendon LaBatte at left guard, Kelly Bates at right guard and Luke Fritz at right tackle.
