WELCOME TO THE HALL: The Canadian Football League Hall of Fame is welcoming five new members to its shrine.

Here’s a look, in brief, at the latest inductees who will be honoured at halftime of tonight’s game:

Position: defensive tackle

Teams/Years: Montreal Alouettes 1972–81; Montreal Concordes 1982-84.

All-star honours: CFL all-star – 1975, 1976, 1977; East all-star – 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1982.

Awards: Alouette Most Outstanding Defensive Player – 1975, 1977; Alouette Most Outstanding Player – 1977; Alouette Most Outstanding Canadian Player – 1977; James P. McCaffrey Trophy winner (top defensive player in the East) – 1977; Runner-up CFL Most Outstanding Defensive Player – 1977; Grey Cup Outstanding Defensive Player, 1977.

Grey Cup games: 1974, 1975, 1977, 1978, 1979.

Grey Cup winning teams: 1974, 1977.

FYI: Born July 23, 1951 in London, Ont. Began with the Als after being traded from Hamilton… Rarely missed a game over his 13 seasons… Superb season in ’77 when he was the Alouettes’ most outstanding, defensive and Canadian player nominee.

ALONDRA JOHNSON

Position: linebacker

Teams/Years: B.C. Lions 1989-90; Calgary Stampeders 1991-2003; Saskatchewan Roughriders 2004.

All-star honours: CFL all-star – 1995, 1998, 2000; West all-star – 1991, 1992, 1997, 1998, 2000; North all-star – 1995.

Awards: Norm Fieldgate Trophy (top defensive player in the West) – 1998; Lions Most Outstanding Defensive Player – 1989; Stampeder Most Outstanding Defensive Player – 1995; 1998, 2002; Runner-up CFL Most Outstanding Defensive Player – 1998; Grey Cup Outstanding Defensive Player – 1998; Calgary Stampeders President Ring – 2001, 2002.

Grey Cup games: 1991, 1992, 1995, 1998, 1999, 2001

Grey Cup winning teams: 1992, 1998, 2001.

FYI: Born June 22, 1965 in Los Angeles… Signed as a free agent with the Lions in 1989… Joined Stamps in 1991 as a free agent… Retired in 2004 in second place on the league’s all-time defensive tackles list with 1,086.

JIM MILLS

Position: offensive tackle

Teams/Years: B.C. Lions 1986-93, 1995; Ottawa Rough Riders 1994.

All-star honours: CFL all-star: 1988, 1990, 1991; West all-star – 1988, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993.

Awards: CFL Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman – 1990, 1991, DeMarco-Beckett Memorial Trophy (West outstanding lineman) – 1990, 1991; Lions Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman – 1990, 1991, 1992.

Grey Cup Participation: 1988.

FYI: Born in Sept. 24, 1961 in Vancouver… After a brief career in the NFL, Mills signed as free agent with the B.C. Lions in August of 1986… Named to the B.C. Lions Wall of Fame and was voted as a member of the B.C. Lions’ 50th Season Dream Team.

RUDY PHILLIPS

Position: offensive guard

Teams/Years: Ottawa Rough Riders 1981–84; Edmonton Eskimos 1986–87; Calgary Stampeders 1988.

All-star honours: CFL all-star 1982, 1983, 1986; East all-star 1982, 1983; West all-star 1986.

Awards: CFL Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman 1982, 1983; Leo Dandurand Trophy (top offensive lineman, East).

Grey Cup games: 1981, 1986, 1987.

Grey Cup winning teams: 1987.

FYI: Born Feb. 25 in 1958 in Dallas… Moved to the Edmonton Eskimos win 1986 and won his first Grey Cup in 1987 when the Eskimos defeated the Argonauts.

TONY ANSELMO

FYI: Born March 14, 1918 in Michel, B.C…. Under his direction McMahon Stadium was converted from a pro sports facility to a multi-purpose amateur/professional facility. Helped raise over $32 million worth of improvements to the facility… Played major role in the 1986-87 ‘Save Our Stamps’ campaign… Founder and director of the Stampeder Wall of Fame Committee and its Alumi Association.
