Reports out of Toronto say Argos coach Bart Andrus is safe in his position for the time being. Andrus has led the Argos to a 3-9 record, worst in the CFL, and has struggled to develop an offence that fits the Canadian game.

"There are no changes being contemplated at this time," Argos president Bob Nicholson told the Toronto Sun on the weekend.

Saskatchewan Roughriders QB Darian Durant has established himself as the best young quarterback in the CFL this season. Durant has passed for 2,807 yards, hitting on 213 of his 363 attempts with 14 TDs and 16 INTs.

Durant was excellent late in a win last Saturday over the Edmonton Eskimos, completing 23 of 33 passes for 269 yards. Durant threw three interceptions but stayed in the game and eventually ousted Ricky Ray and the Eskimos.

"He outduelled the quarterback on the other side, so that was really good for Darian," said coach Ken Miller to the Regina Leader-Post, following the game. "He’s our quarterback now and you have to let him fight through some things that maybe aren’t going as well as you’d like for them to go. He has proven he can fight through and battle through and be successful even if he doesn’t start out as quickly as you’d like."

The Eskimos have signed 31-year-old free agent defensive lineman Jerome Haywood and may have lost the services of defensive captain Dario Romero for the rest of the Canadian Football League season. Haywood, a five-foot-nine, 280-pound product of San Diego State, spent the past two seasons in Winnipeg and was signed in January by the Montreal Alouettes, who subsequently released him prior to the 2009 season.

The Argos have dealt disgruntled cornerback Byron Parker to the Eskimos for future considerations.

Parker rejoined the Argos roughly four weeks ago after being released this summer by the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles. The two-time CFL all-star saw duty as a kick-returner before the arrival of Dominique Dorsey but has played sparingly in Toronto’s secondary since his return.

The CFL’s league office reported on Monday that the league is looking into some incidents in Saturday night’s game between the Bombers and Toronto Argos. Bombers QB Michael Bishop and Toronto tackle Adriano Belli were involved in a number of post-whistle skirmishes and a bench-clearing brawl erupted at one stage of the game.
