BLUE VS. TICATS:

ALL-TIME: The Bombers are 53-42 vs. the Ticats and 7-3 in their last 10.

THE FORECAST:

Straight from Environment Canada: A mix of sun and cloud with 40 per cent chance of showers in the morning and risk of a thunderstorm. Clearing in the afternoon. Wind south 40 km/h gusting to 60 becoming southwest 20 in the afternoon. High 31. UV index 8 or very high.

ANYBODY OUT THERE?

The ticket count for the Bomber home opener was just under 24,000 as of 5 p.m. Thursday.

ROSTER UPDATE:

The Bombers will start six CFL rookies against Hamilton — defensive back Alex Suber, linebacker Marcellus Bowman, offensive tackles Andre Douglas and Kelly Butler and receivers Terence Jeffers-Harris and Cory Watson. OL Glenn January (pectoral) and long-snapper Chris Cvetkovic (knee) are both on the nine-game injured list. SB Jabari Arthur, OL Ryan Donnelly and DB Clint Kent are on the one-game injured.

MUM’S THE WORD:

Bomber head coach Paul LaPolice doesn’t want his troops focusing on anything other than the here and now. To hammer that home, he’s implemented a rather unique fine.

"Here’s what I told our players this morning: We don’t want to hear the words ‘Grey Cup.’ They’re not allowed to say the (words) ‘Grey Cup’ or any of those terms. We’ve heard other teams talking about it. We’re worried about getting two points tomorrow. We’ll talk to you about the playoffs when they come." Further to that, LaPolice said anyone caught saying "Grey Cup" will face a $5 fine, but didn’t include himself until after his pre-game press conference was completed.

FYI:

Bomber RB Fred Reid has 488 yards and a 6.7-yards per carry average in 10 career games against the Ticats, but has yet to find the end zone against them… Former Bomber Arland Bruce III, who’ll likely line up a lot against Alex Suber, has 63 catches in 15 games against the Bombers, but has just three TDs… The Ticats have three ex-Bomber coaches on their staff: Dave Easley, Mike Gibson and John Kropke. Kropke and QB coach Khari Jones both played for the club as well… Bettor alert: Hamilton is just 4-21 straight up in its last 25 road games.

WORTH NOTING:

The Ticats will be without WR Maurice Mann against the Bombers. Mann (ankle) came to the Ticats in an off-season trade with Edmonton for Chris Thompson and had 73 receptions for 917 yards and six TDs in 15 games with the Esks.

CAPTAINS PICKED:

Bomber players have selected their captains for the 2010 season and they are: Offence: Buck Pierce, Fred Reid; Defence: Doug Brown, Joe Lobendahn; Special Teams: Shawn Gallant, Jon Oosterhuis.
