OFFENCE

Kevin Glenn probably wishes he had one or two throws back, but all and all another solid night turned in by the Hamilton quarterback. Glenn was 18-of-26 for 274 yards and three touchdown passes, picking up most of that in a forgettable first half for the Winnipeg secondary.

DEFENCE

A few standout defensive plays but Hamilton LB Markeith Knowlton gets the defensive game ball for his 10-tackle, one-sack outing. Honorable mentions go to Winnipeg DB Jovon Johnson and S Brady Browne, as well as Ticats DB Jason Shivers, for their interceptions.

SPECIAL TEAMS

Not a great night for the Bombers’ kicking game (more on that later), so let’s give it to Hamilton’s Eric Wilbur. The Ticats punter pounded five balls for a 46.2 average. His longest was a 62-yard boot, which resulted in a single towards the end of the first half.

FAN-O- METER:

Johnson gave the 27,892 at Canad Inns Stadium something to be excited about when he intercepted a Glenn pass at mid-field and took it to the house in the second quarter.

After those cheers, though, the Winnipeg boo-birds were starting to migrate right behind the Bomber bench.

CRITICAL NUMBERS:

63 The number of passing yards the Bombers put up in the first half with QB Buck Pierce at the controls. The only player with more than one catch in the first half: RB Fred Reid (3). Backup Steven Jyles had some success (227 yards passing and two TDs), but it was far too late to make a difference.

5 RB Marcus Thigpen’s five-yard touchdown run was the fifth way the Hamilton speedster has scored a touchdown this season — a CFL record. Thigpen had scored on a pass reception, a kick-off return, a missed field goal, a punt return, prior to punching it in Friday night.

30 The number of yards Bombers DE Phillip Hunt took in personal fouls (two penalties, one for roughing the passer and the other for unnecessary roughness) in a crucial Hamilton TD drive in the fourth quarter. Hunt picked up another 15yard infraction (facemask) later in the quarter.
