Lost in all the noise from Winnipeg’s fifth straight win and seventh in eight tries was the professional debut of linebacker Henoc Muamba.

Muamba, the top pick in the 2011 CFL college draft prior to the season, finally took to the field after missing the last nine weeks with a nagging knee injury suffered in a pre-season game June 23.

“Yes, it’s been a long time coming,” the 22-year-old said, as he typed frantically on his cell phone after the game in response to the well wishes delivered via text from friends and family.

Henos Muamba said his debut was a long time coming.

“It felt extremely good,” Muamba said. “You only get one chance at your first pro game, right? I waited a long time for this and it was exactly what I thought it was going to be like.

“It’s only going to get better from here now.”
