THE flurry of Blue Bombers contract extensions continued apace on Monday, as the club re-upped Canadian OL Chris Greaves through 2017.

Greaves, who was drafted by Winnipeg in 2010, started 15 games at guard in 2014, missing a trio of early games due to injury. Those were the first games he’d missed.

In total, Greaves has started 56 games on the OL in his career.

In a statement, Greaves said he signed the extension “without hesitation,” adding he loved playing for the fans. “As an offensive unit we are looking forward to building on the improved record from this season, and take it to the next level in 2015,” he said.

For his part, Bombers GM Kyle Walters praised Greaves’ resilience.

“Whenever you have a Canadian offensive lineman who can start consistently, it’s very important to retain them,” Walters said in a Bombers release. “Chris is a solid football player, and a real great person, so when combined those attributes with his experience in this league, it made this really important for us to get done.”
