Hey there, time traveller!

Resigned to the reality that he won’t be joining the Canadian Tour in his first attempt, Pine Ridge’s Tyler Mancini said Friday he’s just pleased he could add some competitive experience in a trophy-winning year.
The Manitoba match play and mid-amateur champion turned professional just a couple of weeks ago and set off immediately for a crack at the Canadian Tour’s fall qualifying school this week in Burlington, Ont.
But rounds of 76-75-74 have left him about 90th in the field of 126 hopefuls and about 11 shots away from a card at Hidden Lake Golf Course with only today’s final round to go.
“I don’t think I’m intimidated,” Mancini, just 25, said via phone Friday night. “I know I can play with these guys. You’ve just got to bring your A game.”
Mancini’s Pine Ridge clubmate Brad Kirton, the 2007 and 2008 Manitoba Amateur champ, is also at this Q school for a third attempt at a card, but finds himself on the same score, 12-over (76-74-75) through three days.
The top 15 players this week receive exempt status, while the next 15 players will receive conditional tour membership. Mancini said he was no more uptight for the Q-school than any other tournament this year.
“It just felt like another tournament week as far as mindset goes,” he said. “Obviously there are a lot of people trying to make it and it sure would have been nice to get it on the first try.
“Maybe I had a little too much in the way of expectations to do well by hoping to finish off a good season and getting on the tour.”
It hasn’t been all that disastrous on the course this week, but with at least one double-bogey or triple-bogey each day and six three-putts so far this week, low scores have been a tall order.
“It feels kind of like the end of the season and I’m not sure if that’s a feeling like it’s getting to be time for a break,” Mancini said. “But I know my swing isn’t quite here this week. The irons are a little off and I’m shaping them a little more than I was hoping to.
“Plus, there’s lots of undulation in these greens and they’re very hard and my short game has been very cold.”
Mancini has just six birdies in the first three rounds.
