Big picture
The Jets were much better defensively than they have been most nights this year but weren’t able to find a happy medium and provide any offence. Winnipeg was 0-2 on the power play while the Lightning were 1-4. The Jets can take solace in the fact they played a solid team game and only needed a little offence to have a better outcome.
Little picture
Goal scoring is an issue for the Jets and except for their nine-goal outburst against the Flyers earlier this week they have struggled to be consistent offensively. Winnipeg’s power play was fruitless on this night and that’s one area where the team will have to find results as they go forward seaching for wins.
History lesson
The Jets are now winless in their last 12 games against the Lightning dating back to the franchise’s days in Atlanta. The Lightning also have a seven-game at home win streak going against the Jets.
Lighting coach Guy Boucher says the numbers are meaningless. “Different year, different players and different games. The past is the past,” said Boucher.
