About the Jets
Are having a 2-6-0 January so far and stand 21-20-5 overall, still 10th in the Eastern Conference… Face the Sabres tonight and Florida here on Saturday; both teams will be coming in after playing the previous night in Chicago… The Jets have split two games in Buffalo this season, each team winning in overtime. The Sabres visit Winnipeg again on March 5…RW Blake Wheeler, who has missed the past two games with a neck injury, is still the Jets’ leading scorer with 9-23-32…LW Evander Kane, who leads the team in goals with 18, hasn’t scored since Dec. 29 vs. L.A… Winnipeg still doesn’t have a win this season when trailing after two periods, 0-15-2.
About the Sabres
With 44 points (15-29) going into Wednesday’s action, RW Jason Pominville is the Sabres’ leading scorer this season…D Marc-Andre Gragnani has been doing a few things right, a plus12 (team-leader) on a squad populated mostly with minuses in 2011-12… Sabres played in Chicago on Wednesday and tonight will be Game No. 4 of 7 straight on the road. It’s cut up by the all-star break, with the final road game to come after the break… Preparing to meet Chicago, Buffalo had lost five of the previous six, including the home overtime 2-1 game vs. the Jets… The Sabres are 13-17-5 vs. the Eastern Conference this season…Buffalo, like Winnipeg, has been deficient in third periods this season, 32-41 in goals for and against.
