Big picture
A major shot of energy for the Jets, now coming home to play eight in a row. The shootout win pulls Winnipeg to 60 points, now back to four points in arrears of Toronto in the eighth spot of the Eastern Conference, and only five back of division-leading Florida. The game had its ebbs and flows but it was the team’s most complete game in some time.
Little picture
A game with bite for left-winger Evander Kane, who scored twice and pulled the trigger on the shootout winner in the fourth round. Goalie Chris Mason made several excellent third-period stops and had three saves in the shootout, including a patient one on Dany Heatley in the fourth round, to give his team a major chance to win.
Game-breaker
The end of the night, of course. Mason, in his first shootout of the season, was solid. Kane, with the game on his stick, ripped it home to end the night and send the thousands of Jets fans who made the trip very happily into the night.
Three stars
Frst Evander Kane, Jets. 20th, 21st goals of the season, had impact.
second Chris Mason, Jets. Backup goes in and delivers the goods.
third Devin Setoguchi, Wild. Two goals, gave some spark to a slumping club.
