About the Jets
The Jets come into Game 72 with two straight home wins over Dallas and Washington, now just two points away from eighth in the Eastern Conference… the Caps, as of today, would have the edge in a tiebreaker with Winnipeg… D Zach Bogosian comes back into the lineup tonight after missing five games… Friday’s hero, D Dustin Byfuglien, has four points in his last three games and is plus-12 in his last 12 games… RW Blake Wheeler has a six-game points streak going, 4-4-8 in that time.
About the Hurricanes
C Jeff Skinner, second-leading point man on the Hurricanes with 41, will miss tonight’s game, sitting the second game of a two-game suspension for using his skate blade in a dangerous manner… Carolina has won two in a row, the latest a 5-3 decision in Minnesota on Saturday afternoon…It brings the Canes to 71 points, only five worse than the Jets…Carolina has lost three of four to the Jets this season, including both previous games in Winnipeg, but won the last meeting 2-1 in late January in Raleigh…This is the 14th time for back-to-back games for the Canes. They are 3-7-3 in the back half so far.
