About the Jets

The Jets broke a three-game losing streak and have now won four of their last 11 starts and sit 36-34-8. Kyle Wellwood collected his 17th goal and career-high 45th point on Friday night. Jim Slater’s goal gives him 11 on the season, also tying a career high. Spencer Machacek picked up an assist on Friday and now has two goals and six assists in eight games since joining the Jets.

About the Lightning

Second-year coach Guy Boucher will not get the Lightning to the post-season after guiding them to within a game of a trip to the Stanley Cup final last season when they lost in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference final to the Boston Bruins. Captain Vincent Lecavalier has missed 19 games with an upper-body injury. Defenceman Mattias Ohlund has missed the entire season with a knee injury and that’s been a big factor for the 35-35-7 club. Steven Stamkos leads all NHL scorers with 55 goals. Veteran Martin St. Louis has 24 goals and 46 assists while Teddy Purcell has 20 goals and 40 assists.
