ABOUT THE ISLANDERS
This is the second of a five-game road trip to end the season for the Islanders, who knocked off the Maple Leafs 5-3 Thursday in Toronto.
New York has earned points in nine straight games (7-0-2) and is 10-1-2 in its last 13.
Over the last 13 games, the Islanders have conceded 23 goals (1.77 per game).
The Islanders are 13-5-2 on the road, on pace for their best winning percentage (.700) in franchise history. Their top road winning percentage was .663, set in 1976-77 (23-10-7) and in 1980-81 (25-12-3).
New York is just 3-10-3 when John Tavares does not register a point.
Goaltender Evgeni Nabokov has been in net for 38 of the Islanders, 44 games this season and is one back of San Jose’s Antti Niemi in wins with 22. His 333 career wins ranking him third among active goalies, behind Martin Brodeur and Roberto Luongo, and 19th all-time.
Forward Matt Martin leads the NHL with 216 hits while Andrew MacDonald leads with 116 blocked shots — six more than Winnipeg’s Ron Hainsey.
