** P.K. Subban – The Habs’ second goal-scorer played with serious bite, and stifled a couple of dangerous Jets two-on-ones

*** Jacob Trouba – Rookie led the Jets in shots after the second period, was second in ice-time overall, and drove dangerous plays

TAKING SIDES:

Thrice in the third, a row of Habs fans got a robust “ole, ole ole” chant going in their corner of the MTS Centre. That prompted a warring “go Jets go” chant to bust out. A little half-hearted, of course, since the home squad was down 2-0 and couldn’t seem to solve Carey Price, but still.

үӯ SAVING FACE:

As far as faceoffs went, the Jets clawed up from a disastrous first period and did a little better for the rest of the game, but winning at the dot still seems to dog this team. Montreal won 55 per cent of faceoffs. Bryan Little went six-for-nine when taking the faceoff in the Canadiens zone, but only took one of seven in the Jets’ end.

үӯ SLOW START:

The Jets recovered from a sluggish start to serve up a robust 35 shots on net, but as Jets coach Claude Noel pointed out, few of those were actually dangerous chances. “He (Montreal netminder Carey Price) saw a lot of pucks,” Noel said. “He was able to get it stopped quickly, just clear shots to the net. Either we’re not getting there, or shots aren’t getting through… When people are there and paying the price to screen the goalie, that’s when you’ve got to get it through.”
