About the Flames

The Flames arrive in Winnipeg after blowing a two-goal, third-period lead in a 4-2 loss to Edmonton Saturday night, dropping their record to 6-11-3.

Calgary is 0-5-1 in its last six, their last win a 3-2 overtime decision over Chicago on Nov. 3.

Rookie Sean Monahan (above) scored his eighth of the season against the Oilers and was named the game’s second star. He is second on the team in scoring with the eight goals and five assists.

The Flames have five players on their roster who were drafted by the organization: Monahan, Mikael Backlund, Sven Baertschi, TJ Brodie and Lance Bouma. Five others were signed as free agents while 14 were acquired via trade.

Calgary’s power play ranked 23rd, its penalty kill 28th heading into Sunday night’s action.

Flames coach Bob Hartley is in his second year with Calgary after leading the ZSC Lions to a Swiss League title in Zurich in 2012.

Hartley was head coach of the Atlanta Thrashers in 2006-07 — the Thrashers/Jets’ franchise only playoff appearance.

Calgary is 3-7-1 on the road.

This is just the second meeting between the clubs since the Jets’ rebirth and the first in Winnipeg.

The Flames knocked off the Jets 5-3 on March 9, 2012 and they did not face each other last season.
